We were asked to design a high-end laptop. A true statement product. We made a laptop for your living room that provides a rich, lean back experience that will fit discretely into your surroundings when it is closed. All measures are taken to make the user feel the unprecedented level of craftsmanship put into a consumer laptop. The sound quality is way above the competition, all mechanical parts are solid and every detail is resolved.
The keypad area has a clean and minimalistic look because of an interface invention that we made: Touchpads are placed on each side of the keypad. This gave the ergonomic benefit of being able to use keypads and touchpads with the same position of your underarm and use both hands at the same time. Much more relaxing to use and you can easy multitask.
The form factor of the notebook is wider but less deep ordinary laptops. This was intended to give it a better posture on your living room desk or shelf. When closed, only one curved sheet of aluminum is visible. It has that simple look that does not disturb your living room interior. ASUS NX90 is a product design with full attitude when in use, almost disappearing when not. This design really broke consensus.
